DTF file checker

Check your design before you print. We find the problems that ruin DTF transfers — like invisible background pixels that print as a box — and fix most of them in one click.

Drop your design here or choose a file

PNG with a transparent background works best. JPG and WebP are checked too. Your file stays on your device — nothing is uploaded.

Can’t get it right?

Blurry, low resolution, or a background that won’t come off cleanly? Send us the file and a designer will make it print-ready — usually within a day.

We’ll fix it for you

What the checker looks for

Invisible background pixels

Pixels at 1–8% opacity look empty on screen, but a DTF printer lays white ink under every one of them — so a box prints around your design. The checker finds them and clears them.

Solid backgrounds

A JPG, or a PNG saved on white or any other colour, prints as a solid rectangle. We remove only the background around your design and keep that colour inside it — eyes, lettering, highlights.

See-through edges, glows and shadows

Partly transparent pixels get solid white underbase, which shows as a pale fringe. The fix makes every pixel fully solid or fully clear.

Extra empty space

Printers size the whole canvas, so transparent padding makes your design print smaller than you ordered. We trim to the artwork.

Resolution (DPI) at your print size

We measure the pixels across the artwork itself and tell you the DPI at the width you'll print — and the largest size that stays sharp at 300 DPI.

Questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The checker runs entirely in your browser. Your design is never sent to our servers, and the fixed PNG is created on your device.
Why does my DTF print have a box around the design?
Almost always because the background isn't truly transparent — it holds nearly invisible pixels. DTF printers put white ink under any pixel that isn't 100% clear, so those pixels print as a box. The checker shows them in pink and removes them.
Why is there a white outline or fringe around my print?
Soft edges, glows and drop shadows are partly transparent. White underbase prints under them at full strength, so they show as a pale halo. Making every edge fully solid or fully clear fixes it.
What DPI do I need for DTF printing?
300 DPI at the printed size is the standard for sharp DTF transfers. A 12-inch-wide print needs about 3,600 pixels across the artwork. 150–300 DPI usually prints acceptably; below 150 it will look soft or pixelated.
Can the checker fix a blurry or low-resolution image?
No — it can't add detail that isn't in the file. For blurry, pixelated or low-resolution artwork, our designers can redraw or vectorize it so it prints sharp at any size.
