Why a hand-checked trace is different
A vector file isn't just "not a PNG". It's a description of shapes, and the quality of that description is what decides whether the file cuts cleanly on a plotter, separates for screen printing, or stays editable a year from now.
An automatic trace optimises for one thing: matching the pixels it was given, including the damage. That's why auto-traced logos have wavy edges and why a traced circle is never actually a circle. It's also why the resulting file is often larger than the image it replaced.
We rebuild curves as curves and corners as corners, match the typeface where the design uses type, and keep the node count low enough that you or another designer can still work with the result.
